
Born and raised in New Mexico, Mrs. Bowen first attended Cottey College,a junior college for women,in Nevada, Missouri, before transferring to the University of Oklahoma. At Oklahoma she received her B.A. and Masters degree in Library Science.
After finishing school she joined the Marine Corps where she became a communications-electronics officer. Over the years she served as a communications-electronics officer, officer selection officer, company and unit commander, leadership instructor, and an instructor in staff planning and formulation of national security policy. Retiring from the Marine Corps with the rank of Colonel, Mrs. Bowen began working as a part-time reference librarian at the Huntington Beach Public Library prior to becoming the librarian for Marina and Westminster High Schools.
Additional schooling includes teaching certificates in Social Studies and as a Library Media Teacher. She has also earned a second master's degree in Human Resources Management from Pepperdine University. Military education includes Basic Naval Communications Offices Course, Advanced Communications Officers Course, Command and Staff College, and the National Defense University's National Security Course. Amoung her awards she holds the National Defense Service Medal with 2 stars, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the Joint Services Commendation Medal.
Married, with three children, two of whom are teachers, Mrs. Bowen enjoys reading, traveling, skiing (and watching other sports -- Go Angels!), crafts, and music in her spare time. She is a third generation teacher.

Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Mr. Swick, attended Northern Arizona University before transferring to the Art Institute of Phoenix, where he earned a degree in Computer Animation.
After working several years as a freelance artist and animator, Mr. Swick began working for the Peoria Unified School District in Peoria, Arizona, as an audio/visual clerk. Soon after, he fulfilled a personal goal by moving to Orange County where he will continue his education. He started working at Marina as the Library Assistant with the 2004-2005 school year.
Mr. Swick plays and coaches ice hockey, and enjoys reading, surfing, drawing and writing.
